Anyone know when this starts back up? I was thinking sometime in June, but I can't recall!

One of my favorite parts of summer! Mmmm!

I think it's  June through August each year, from 7 a.m. to noon Saturdays at the Westlake Ace Hardware parking lot. I, too, am looking forward to seeing what goodies are available in just a few weeks.

According to Dean "Whitey" Whitehill here at the Extension Office, the Farmers Market opens the first Saturday of June and continues through the last Saturday of September.  He is helping to head up the Farmers Market again, so if anyone wants to be a vendor, they can contact the Extension Office, 272-3670.

Nothing quite like fantastic vegetables and baked goods, all in one place!

I love the farmers' market!! We should have it downtown, or in the streets wrapping Stevens Park. And then we should have live music in the park. And free coffee. And everything else that makes my dream-farmers'-market come true.

Agreed, Sahmad.  That would be a festive atmosphere for, and more conducive to, potential customers to make purchases.  And the free coffee?  A good thing for sure, but I'd break-out the wallet to buy it if I had to.  Too bad the city "dads" and/or "moms" haven't thought this one out and made something like this happen.

Maybe in the future?

It has been tried in conjunction with October Fest or Market Fest, but they charged the vendors a fee...so most of them stayed out in the usual location!    And also, it didn't start as early, and they wanted the vendors to stay all day in the heat of the day.  Old habits die hard.  Especially old, free, convenient habits.

I understand that concept, DogLady.    Cheesy

It works just fine where it's currently located, I suppose.  Nevermind the lack of "festive atmosphere".    *grin*

Too bad it couldn't be held in, say, Stevens Park without making vendors jump through hoops and stand on their heads as prerequisite, though.

Did anyone find any goodies yesterday?

Oh, yes, Cherry Pie, Sandhill Plum Jelly, Maple Nut Twists!  I told those pie ladies that I darn near wasted away over winter without all their goodies!

After running an errand, I found myself driving north on Fleming on Saturday (the 27th), only to observe a good-sized crowd at the Farmer's Market.  I wanted to stop and check things out, but was short on time.  Did anyone pay a visit that day?  Looked like a lot of folks were browsing and buying.  Wished I had had the time to stop for a bit.  Maybe this Saturday?  I probably will, unless it's not held due to the holiday.

I'm waiting on vegetables. Were there many available?

I was surprised that there were a few vegetables. Two Saturdays ago, all I saw were tomatoes, but last week, there were some squash, onions and some more produce. And I'm guessing things will get better as the season progresses.
