Cloud computing is all about using software online instead of something installed on your local hard drive. Things like Google Apps, Basecamp, or even Mint.com fit in this category.

It means you can access your files and information from anywhere you can use a web browser. It means you could (potentially) get by with a less powerful computer. It means software companies have to change their thinking about how to sell software and how users want to access it.

Some people may be concerned about security; having their personal info, financial data, etc. online. It's a valid concern and I personally am not ready to fully embrace working in the cloud.

I'll keep lugging around my laptop for now.
