As a young, new homeowner many years ago, it was recommended that I plant Silver Leaf Maples around my place. It was kinda trendy at the time... seems like a lot of folks were planting them left and right. But we later learned they were subject to iron deficiency and turned yellow or died outright. I hung iron IV's on the trees, knowing that there was a chance it could kill it. All fine and well until... it killed the nicely shaped beauty in the front yard (I'm talking tree here).

The backyard maple still survives, but it requires frequent attention. Needless to say, I don't see that variety on the recommended list. I like the Lindens on the list; good trees and definitely more durable in my experience. What I wish I would have done is planted cottonless Cottonwood and podless Locust trees instead.
The list contains some very good choices and should be a big help for those who are planning to do a bit of landscaping. The City did a good job of colating the list.
