Yesterday my wife and I went to Boot Hill Casino in Dodge City. I thought it was very well done. The dealers were new and inexperienced but regardless we had a wonderful time and of course did leave some money! I think this type of attraction is needed to bring more people to southwest Kansas.
I was disappointed that people could smoke there but the ventilation was adequate, even though we did come home with smoke smelling clothes.
One of the workers said they will have an expansion of gaming in approximately one year. You can also see the construction of the hotel is continuing.

Some of our reporters took a "road trip" yesterday to the new casino. Look for articles in the paper today and we'll have a video online late this afternoon.

Don't know if they left any money there, but I'm sure it was tempting.  Cheesy

Not yet, Bucks, but we may give it a spin on Saturday (providing the place isn't too crowded!).  Glad you and the Misses had a good time.  We'll be headed to Dodge anyway, so if conditions are right, we'll stop for a bit.  I'm not much into gambling, but I've heard the new casino is very nice and a state-of-the-art facility.  When in Vegas, I tend to spend my time (and money) at the various shows and at boxing matches (should any take place when I'm in town).  After 30 minutes at the slots, I'm done and ready to hit the buffet or take-in an event.  I'm glad that Dodge was able to "land" the casino and I think it'll be a real asset to Ford County.  Kudos to them for their efforts to secure the facility.

Karl, I'll take a look to see if the video has been posted.  Thanks for the info.

Made it back from the Boot Hill Casino a bit ago and the verdict is...

It's nice.

Attentive staff, clean and well lit and roomier than most Colorado casinos (I can only talk about Cripple Creek, I've never been to Blackhawk).  Very good parking area, visible security staff, friendly personnel in the cashier cage and on the floor and in the dining/snack bar areas.  Overall, a good experience.

As far as winnings... don't ask!  Like I said in the previous post, I'm not much of a gambler.  I only invested a total of $60 and won $20 back.  Of course, and needless to say, I spent the $20 too.  Heh, heh, heh.  That's what you're supposed to do, right?     Undecided

We had a good time there, if only for 90 minutes or so.  I learned that merchandise in the General Store is pricy and that the snack bar goods are too.  I never win much of anything at other casinos either, so I wasn't dissapointed at all.  Big crowd there, but everything seemed to run smoothly.  Best of all, we liked the friendly staff.

Glad you enjoyed the experience Lou! I agree the staff is very friendly although still learning on the tables. We had a breakfast sandwich in the snack bar and thought that was very inexpensive. The gift shop did not have very much merchandise in it though, of course we did not go there to shop in their gift shop!!! It makes for a nice little excursion!
