Ground Zero mosque

Kathleen Parkers article in Thursdays editoral page on the Ground Zero mosque had some very interesting points. However President Obama's approval of allowing the mosque to be built after taking the opposite view on Fred Phelp's right to protest at funerals doesn't jive logically. No matter what his opinion is on these two issues, if he's going to preach tolerance based on rights guaranteed by our Constitution than he ought to be consistent. We should expect no less from our President.

I agree.  I don't think anyone disputes their "right" to  request to build a mosque there.  But WE have every right to question their motives, their sincerity, and to look for "loopholes" to deny the permit.  Happens all the time in every town and city in this country.  That too, is part of the democratic process, like it or not.
